Set up in 2001, the .NAME universal top-level extension is the sole TLD planned for personal web pages only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other titles people are popular by. At the beginning, solely third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to reserve john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already taken third-level names remained online.

You will have the opportunity to modify the WHOIS info, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our company if you have its EPP transfer code from the present registrar and we will renew it once the transfer has been completed. There are no particular terms on who can acquire a .NAME domain, but in order to keep the concept behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
